Cornerstone Bank, a community bank with 13 locations in Central Massachusetts, has donated $50,000 to the Worcester Community Action Council to support its emergency fuel fund.
The emergency fund was previously depleted due to fuel costs and an increase in calls for support from the community, totalling $150,000 in payments and more than 350 households aided.
“We are proud to support WCAC’s mission of helping those struggling to heat their homes as the weather begins to trend colder,” Cornerstone Bank CEO Todd Tallman said in a Tuesday press release.
This marks the third consecutive year in which Cornerstone Bank has donated to the council. Cornerstone, which is headquartered in Worcester, is the 10th largest bank in Central Massachusetts when ranked by local deposits. As of June 2021, the bank had $1.2 billion in local deposits, $1.5 billion in assets, and 169 employees across its 13 branches.
