Cool Weather Boosts TJX Sept. Sales

The TJX Cos. Inc. reported September sales of $2 billion, an 8 percent increase over the same month last year.

The Framingham-based discount retailer said sales for the 35-week period ended Oct. 3 reached $12.6 billion, a 4 percent increase over last year. Same store sales increased by 7 percent in September and by 4 percent year-to-date.

Already high customer traffic numbers at TJX stores were boosted by cool weather, which the company said prompted shoppers to purchase fall clothing.

TJX operates T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and A.J. Wright stores, among others.
