Consumer confidence continues to slide

The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index fell four points in April to 104, down from 108.2 in March. The economists groups blamed rising gas prices for some consumers’ weariness. The job market outlook, however, remained fairly stable. Those anticipating new jobs to become available edged up less than one percentage point to 12.9 percent.
