Consultant hired to make Stamford reps nicer to each other

A consultant has been hired to try to make Stamford’s local lawmakers a bit nicer to each other.

The president of the Board of Representatives says he’s hired a human resources specialist after complaints of its members bullying and disrespecting fellow board members.

Board President David Martin says the specialist will sit in on meetings and give feedback on how members can work together better.

Martin says he sought professional help after multiple occasions in which members made inappropriate comments or were overly argumentative and other board members complained.

Martin says the board can’t have an atmosphere that’s so distasteful that some people quit the board.
