Construction jobs in Massachusetts dropped 17.2 percent from Sept. 2008 to Sept. 2009, according to a new report from the Associated General Contractors of America.
Across the country, 49 states and Washington D.C. all lost construction jobs over the year, with only Louisiana seeing an increase. The hardest-hit state was Nevada, with a drop of 27.8 percent, or 31,100 jobs.
In Massachusetts, 130,900 people were employed in construction in Sept. 2008. A year later, that was down to 108,600, a drop of 22,500. Construction jobs in the state also fell 0.2 percent between August and September.
