Construction has begun at a new shopping center on Route 12 in Webster, according to the New England Real Estate Journal (NEREJ).
Steel was erected earlier this month for the 20,000-sqaure-foot project at the site of a former Webster nursery, the NEREJ said. Auburn-based Galaxy Development is leading the effort, and work is expected to be complete in early summer.
Galaxy officials were not immediately available for comment.
The five-acre property will have 100 parking spaces and accommodations for five tenants, one of which is expected to be a Mexican restaurant, the NEREJ said.
The property sits directly across Worcester Avenue from a Price Chopper supermarket completed by Galaxy last year.
Galaxy was also approved last year for a 225,000-square-foot retail project with a Price Chopper in Sutton, but the town planning board decision has been challenged in court by the owners of a nearby plaza with a Stop & Shop.
