Connector board endorses seven health plans

The group charged with implementing the state’s health care reform law today endorsed plans from seven carriers for individuals and small businesses to choose from beginning May 1.

The Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority board of directors approved plans that offer a choice of deductibles ranging from zero to $2,000 with prescription drug coverage.

The carriers who received approval are: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, ConnectiCare, Fallon Community Health Plan, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, New England Health, Neighborhood Health Plan and Tufts Health Plan.

Whether those plans will remain available through the Connector will be determined by the board at its March 20 meeting. At that time, the board will establish standards for minimum coverage to be recognized by the state as a qualified insurance plan.
