Connecticut ranks 16 in national foreclosure filings

In 2007, more than 2.2 million foreclosure filings were reported on almost 1.3 million properties -- a 75 percent increase from 2006.

The staggering housing market figures came from the 2007 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report from RealtyTrac, which also showed that more than 1 percent of all U.S. households were in some stage of foreclosure over the course of the year. That figure is up from .58 percent in 2006.

With 3.4 percent of households entering some stage of foreclosure throughout the year, Nevada had the nation's highest state foreclosure rate. Florida was No. 2, and Michigan No. 3. And with 23, 470 foreclosure filings in 2007 and almost 1 percent of households in some state of foreclosure, Connecticut ranked 16th.
