The shipments of personal and entry-level computer storage has fallen by 13.4 percent in the third quarter of 2015, according to Framingham-based International Data Corporation.
The organization’s Worldwide Personal and Entry-Level Storage Tracker showed that not only did shipments decline compared to the previous year, but shipment values fell an even sharper 19.8 percent.
“The personal and entry-level storage market was stagnant in 2014 and started to show signs of decline in 2015,” said Jingwen Li, Senior Research Analyst of Storage Systems for the International Data Corporation. “The adoption of cloud storage has been gaining traction in the consumer space with its easy data access and mobile device integration.”
