Solar energy systems provider Vivint Solar has partnered with BlueWave of Boston to offer community solar memberships to residents of Central and Southeastern Massachusetts.
The partnership, announced Tuesday, will provide electricity savings to nearly 250 customers who live near the future sites of BlueWave’s two solar farms, in Oxford and Fairhaven. Community solar gives more people access to low-cost, efficient solar power without putting panels on their roofs. This is an ideal solution for residents of multi-unit buildings or those whose rooftops aren’t suitable for solar panel installation, according to a press release from Vivint Solar.
The companies plan to expand access across Massachusetts and beyond in 2016.Â
