The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts announced on Monday it has dispersed another $290,575 in grant money to five area nonprofits helping to provide community relief in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

That funding package is in addition to $654,754 in funding awarded in February.

Recipients and awards during this round include:

  • $50,000 to the Spanish American Center in Leominster
  • $60,000 to the Athol YMCA
  • $20,000 to Making Opportunity Count in Fitchburg
  • $20,000 to Catholic Charities Worcester County
  • $124,718 to WHEAT Community Connections in Clinton

The Spanish American Center, Athol YMCA and Making Opportunities Count also received funding from the February round.

“These organizations all have strong managers and serve communities with severe need for support,” said Community Foundation president Stephen Adams, in a statement.

The funding was made available through the Commonwealth COVID Grant Program.
