The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts said it finished its fiscal year June 30 by awarding seven grants totaling $110,637 to local organizations.
The grants include $20,000 to Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School to retrofit a school bus to run on biodiesel. The foundation also awarded $20,000 to the YWCA of Central Massachusetts for increased training for its high-risk response team, which helps victims of domestic violence.
Another $20,000 grant was made to the Nashua River Watershed Association Inc in Groton to establish a graduate-level science course for teachers at Fitchburg State College.
United Neighbors of Celghorn Inc. of Fitchburg received $17,392 to provide civics and citizenship services to recent immigrants.
The House of Peace and Education Inc. will provide a summer camp at Camp Collier in Gardner for 150 low-income children with the $17,000 grant it received.
The Franklin County Home Care Corp. will increase its fundraising efforts with a $10,000 grant and a resource center for grant seekers will be established at Leominster Public Library with a $6,245 grant.
The Fitchburg-based foundation was established in 2001 and has made about $12 million in grants.
