Community College Teams Up With GM

Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner will partner with auto maker General Motors to launch an automotive technology degree program this fall.

Students who complete the two-year program will be GM-certified technicians.

GM’s Automotive Service Educational Program was launched in 1979 and has been implemented at more than 60 colleges and universities across the country.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that job openings for automotive technicians will grow 5 percent through 2018.

The college will hold information sessions about the program on campus on July 26 and Aug. 3.
