Construction increased nationally in April by more than it has in almost 10 years, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Construction was up 2.7 percent last month compared to March. That’s the largest month-over-month increase in construction since August 2000
Boosted by federal tax credits that expired during the month, housing construction increased by 4.4 percent to an annual rate of $263 billion.
Nonresidential construction increased 1.7 percent to an annual rate of $302.7 billion, its first increase in slightly more than a year.
