The Colonial Bowling Center property on Mill Street in Worcester was sold to the Guild of St. Agnes, a local childcare provider whose former Worcester location is being converted into apartments.

The former bowling alley at 248 Mill St. sold for $1 million in a deal closed Dec. 1, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds. It was sold by Anderson Lanes Inc., which is registered to Nicholas Andreson, the bowling alley’s former owner.

Andreson, who is in his 90s, announced the business was closing in May 2020 after 60 years in operation.

The roughly 17,000-square-foot building was listed for sale for $1.7 million in November 2020, and is assessed by the City of Worcester at $1.3 million.

The Guild of St. Agnes has locations throughout Worcester, as well as in Charlton, Devens, Fitchburg, Gardner, and Webster, according to its website. The organization sold its location at 284 Highland Street in November after converting it into three condos, executive director Edward Madaus said in an email.
