Cognex Promotes Jaaskelainen

Cognex Corp. of Natick has promoted Markku Jaaskelainen to executive vice president of the company and as president of its surface inspection systems division.
Jaaskelainen joined Cognex in 1999 as vice president and general manager of its surface inspections systems division, which makes high-speed vision systems used to detect and classify surface defects in materials.
Before joining Cognex, he served as vice president of system strategy and new product development for Honeywell-Measurex Corp., which is based in California. He holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in physics from Finland’s University of Jyvaskyla.
