Natick-based Cognex Corp. reported net income for 2007 of $26.9 million, down 33 percent from 2006.
Fourth quarter net income was up 51 percent from the previous quarter, to $9.5 million.
The company said it spent time and money over the year on product development and sales force changes. It said its fourth-quarter revenues got a boost from increased sales to the factory automation and surface inspection markets.
The company, which produces machine vision sensors for production lines, said its fourth-quarter revenue and earnings per share were at the highest level in seven years.
