Cognex completes sale of surface inspection division
Machine sensor manufacturer Cognex Corp. of Natick has completed the sale of its Surface Inspection Systems Division to AMETEK Inc.
The transaction, announced last month, was completed Monday for $160 million in cash, subject to customary working capital and other purchase price adjustments, the company said Tuesday. AMETEX, based in Berwyn, Pa., makes electronic instruments and electromechanical devices.
Cognex said it expects to report a pre-tax gain from the transaction of about $125 million in the third quarter of 2015.
