Machine vision manufacturer Cognex Corp. in Natick has appointed Angelos Papadimitriou to its board of directors as two board members plan to retire on May 3.
Directors Theodor Krantz and Patrick Alias announced their plans to retire from the board of directors on Feb. 15, leaving the board with seven members, according to a Feb. 16 press release from the company. Krantz is the former CFO of military tech manufacturer Airmar Technology Corp. of New Hampshire, and Alias is a senior vice president at Cognex.
They will officially leave their positions on May 3, after the completion of their current terms as directors. Alias will continue working for Cognex in an advisory role.
Papadimitriou will serve on the company’s audit committee. He is the chairman of the board of directors of Athena Ventures, an early stage venture fund for emerging disruptive technologies, according to its website. According to CrunchBase, the company is based in Singapore.
Papadimitriou was the co-CEO of Pirelli & C. S.p.A., the Italian tire company, which is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange. He also served as CEO for Coesia S.p.A., an Italian holding company that designs, manufactures, and sells automated packaging machinery, industrial process solutions, and precision gears, for 10 years. He also worked for more than 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry.
Cognex has made more than $10 billion in cumulative revenue since the company was founded in 1981. It is headquartered in Natick with offices throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
