(Updated at 1:43 p.m.) Medical device manufacturer Cogmedix, a subsidiary of Worcester-based Coghlin Cos., announced the opening of a new headquarters on Briden Street in Worcester.
The company, which provides manufacturing and engineering services to medical and dental equipment companies, cited rapid growth in its decision to open a newly-outfitted facility, which features expanded production capacity, test labs and new amenities.
The 17 Briden St. location is the former site of Columbia Tech, Coghlin’s contract manufacturing company, which relocated to Westborough in 2013. Formerly located on Hartwell Street in West Boylston, Cogmedix’s new Worcester facility is ideal for operations, according to Vice President and General Manager Matt Giza.
“Our new location (provides) quick and easy access to the entire region’s transportation infrastructure including major airports … We are also only about a mile from Worcester’s Union Station. All of this makes it possible for our visiting clients to arrive by air or rail and be hard at work in their own dedicated spaced in about an hour or less,” Giza said in a statement.
Upgrades at the site include climate-controlled, laser-safe test labs, new cafeteria spaces, modern conference rooms and fully-equipped workspaces for visiting clients, Cogmedix said.
Giza said Cogmedix is at home in the new location, adjacent to Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Gateway Park, Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives, and several life sciences companies.
“Both regionally and nationally, Worcester has become well known as a home for these cutting-edge industries, and Cogmedix is now located right in the heart of it all,” Giza said.
(Note: An earlier version of the story misstated the location of Columbia Tech's headquarters)
