CMS announces proposal to stabilize health insurance market

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced Wednesday its proposal to stabilize the individual and small group health insurance market while future reforms are being debated.

The proposal for 2018 is aimed to protect patients and provide more flexibility to the state and insurers CIM said.

The proposed regulatory changes include an expansion of pre-enrollment verification, guaranteed availability, network adequacy rules and a revised timeline for Qualified Health Plan certification.
