CMass United Way gets $300K gift

United Way of Central Massachusetts has received one of its largest-ever single donations, the organization said.

Longtime supporter Jeanne Curtis, who passed away in February 2012, left United Way $300,000 in her will. The unexpected gift will be used to create an endowment for the women’s initiative and community safety net programs.

“We feel privileged to be able to carry on Jeanne’s passion of promoting women’s leadership and philanthropy and look forward to funding worthy programs that, in turn, will spread her legacy of caring for those in need,” Tim Garvin, regional president and CEO, said in a statement.
