Eight public high schools in Central Massachusetts received a combined $685,000 to purchase life sciences training equipment and supplies, the Patrick administration and the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) announced today.
This grant program is aimed in part at diversifying the commonwealth’s life sciences workforce, according to state officials.
“We want to make those (professional) opportunities available to all students across the state, which is why we are focusing resources in this round of grant awards on our voc-tech schools, Title 1 high schools and public high schools in our Gateway Cities,” said Susan Windham-Bannnister, president and CEO of the MLSC.
Statewide, $3.27 million in grant were distributed to 35 public high schools. Roughly $6.75 million was awarded previously, according to the MLSC.
