The George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation of Worcester has gifted $100,000 to Worcester’s Clark University to fund after-school programs and field trips at its partner school, the University Park Campus School in Worcester’s Main South neighborhood over the next two years, Clark announced on Wednesday.

“We’re excited by and grateful for every opportunity to collaborate with Clark on programs that benefit Main South kids in real and enduring ways. This grant underscores the importance of having a solid after-school program in a trusted and familiar setting, both as an educational enhancement and for the peace of mind it offers families seeking purposeful activities for their children once the school day is done.” said Daniel St. Louis, principal of the University Park Campus School in a press release.

The product of a partnership between Clark University and the City of Worcester, the University Park Campus School opened in 1997. It serves students in grades 7-12 from the surrounding Main South neighborhood.

In the 2021-22 school year, the school’s enrollment was 233 with 59% of students identifying as Hispanic, 15% Asian, and 13% African American, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Over 86% of students are classified as high-needs, and for 69% of students, English is not their first language.

The school had a 97% four-year graduation rate in 2021 compared with 88% in all Worcester Public Schools.
