Clark University in Worcester has received nearly $800,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to assist in a nationwide study the economic value of water quality.
The school was among six nationwide and three in New England chosen on Tuesday for the project, with each of them taking on a different portion of the work.
According to the EPA, Clark will estimate water quality benefits throughout river systems in the Northeast. The other two New England schools participating in the study are the University of Connecticut and Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
“This funding will help provide the kind of information to communities investing in water resources to help them decide what steps to take to get the most bang for their buck,” Curt Spalding, regional administrator of EPA’s New England office, said in a release.
