Clark Cafeteria Workers Strike Against Sodexho

Cafeteria workers at Clark University in Worcester have gone on strike against French food services provider Sodexho after months of failed attempts to form a union.

At 6:45 a.m., which is the first shift for the Sodexho employees at the school, workers began the strike because of "ongoing serious problems" with their labor situation, according to a press release.

Specifically workers cite low wages, unaffordable health care and efforts by Sodexho to block the formation a union.

Sodexho workers in Virginia, Georgia, Ohio, Louisiana and New Jersey are also on strike, or have recently gone on strike, for similar issues.

Sodexho workers are planning to hold rallies at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. today at Clark's Main Street campus.
