The City of Worcester is making available $10,000 grants to city businesses impacted by the efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus, for up to $500,000 in total aid, the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce announced Friday.
The aid is the latest in government and business-group efforts to assist businesses being hit by closures or limitations meant to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Businesses can apply for the new Worcester grant program starting Monday. They must be located in the city, have less than $2 million in gross receipts, and have suffered an income loss of 50% or more related to the outbreak since March 10. Its owner must also have a low- to moderate-income status.
The city is making the funds available through the federal Community Development Block Grant program.
