The City of Worcester has issued a request for proposals for a property in Worcester's Main South neighborhood it would like to see developed into a light manufacturing facility.
The 1.75-acre lot at 13 Southgate Place is the former home of a scrap metal business, Frankensteins Recycling. It is across the railroad tracks from the Table Talk Pies Southgate Street facility and just off of Southbridge Street.
The request for proposals issued by the city on Oct. 18 indicates the most desirable use of the property would be a 10,000-square-foot light manufacturing space creating 20 full-time or full-time-equivalent jobs. The City would like to see the project begin within six months of the property sale and completed within 18 months.
The property is assessed by the City of Worcester for $218,800.
The deadline for bids is Dec. 8.
