Citizens Financial Group has granted $15.4 million in forgivable loans to assist 3,000 employees – 562 in Massachusetts – to purchase homes since 2002.
The Citizens’ Home Buyer Assistance Program was created five years ago. It allows eligible employees to receive $5,000, five-year forgivable loans toward the purchase of primary residences. The bank also offers employees $8,000, five-year forgivable loans toward the purchase of homes located in “emerging communities.”
The program issues about 15 loans per week.
