Consumers in the Northeast are more optimistic about the economy than the rest of the country, according to a Citigroup survey.
But that doesn't mean people here think everything is rosy.
Fifty-three percent of survey respondents said the economy "has a ways to go before hitting bottom," while 43 percent said the economy has already sunk to its lowest point. In the rest of the country, 36 percent believe the economy has put its worst days behind it.
Of course, it helps if your finances have remained secure through the downturn, Citi said.
A full 62 percent of Northeasterners with more than $100,000 in investable assets said the investment climate is better today than it was a year ago.
Nationally, 50 percent feel the same way.
The survey also found that people from the Northeast feel their individual financial situations are little or no better than they were a year ago.
Young people in the Northeast were more optimistic about the future, but still worried by the present economic situation.
