Cigna reports healthy Q4 net income increase
Cigna reported today a 22 percent increase in net income to $263 million in Q4 2007 from $232 million for the same period last year.
Net income per share grew to $0.93 in the fourth quarter this year from $0.76 at the same time last year. The company's total revenue increased to $4.5 billion in Q4 2007 from $4.2 billion in Q4 2006.
"In 2007, our health care business grew earnings and gained market share... In addition, our group disability and life and international businesses delivered competitively strong top-line and bottom-line results," said Cigna Chairman and CEO H. Edward Hanway in a statement. "We expect to continue this success in 2008 and beyond as we further our mission to become the leading health services company."
