Church Street garage slated for $3M of improvements
The Church Street Parking Garage is reaching its final years, says Jim Kopencey of the Hartford Parking Authority: Officials estimate the aging parking facility only has about four years left before a new facility will have to be built.
The parking authority approved a contract today to make more than $3 million in improvements to the current garage, but Kopencey acknowledged that this will likely be the last major expenditure on the Church Street facility.
In addition to approving the contract on the garage, board members today emphasized that they want to work with the city and downtown parkers on ways to transition between the existing facility and a new one.
