Sutton has a new bookstore coming. The Christian bookstore chain Morning Star Christian Bookstores is expected to open in Sutton by the end of the year.
The Christian bookstore plans to open in a 3,500 sq. foot existing building at 140 Worcester Providence Turnpike, on Route 146. Initial plans have been approved by the Town of Sutton’s Planning Board and according to the store’s manager, Chris Lajeunesse, the hope is for an opening to be accomplished before the end of November.
“We’re excited to go into Sutton,” Lajeunesse said. “Sutton provided us with an awesome opportunity and welcomed us.”
Morning Star has five other locations in Massachusetts, including one in Leominster. The company had a store on Route 20 in Auburn, but that closed in February. It had been open for 15 years. The reason for closing was not disclosed by Lajeunesse.
“The store couldn’t be there any longer,” Lajeunesse said.
The Auburn store was located at 421 Washington St., which is Route 20.
