Chef Joshua Letendre is serving up breakfast all day and lunch at his new diner, Josh’s Place at the Southbridge Municipal Airport.
The restaurant is open seven days a week 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a Tuesday press release from The Chamber of Central Mass South.
“The last five years have been a ride with beating cancer and, in the last three years, being an executive in the Boston culinary scene was one of the highlights of those times. Going through all that has given me a whole new perspective on life where I do not waste any more time. So, when I saw this beautiful venue up for bid, I just had to jump at the opportunity at giving back to the community,” said Letendre in the press release.
Letendre has a background cooking in the Central Mass. South region.
He was born and raised in Sturbridge and began his culinary career at Rom’s Restaurant in Sturbridge, working there from age 15 until it closed in 2008.
“The Roscioli family had a big impact on my professional career,” Letendre said.
He also worked at the Yankee Diner in Charlton.
The Josh’s Place diner is at the location of the former Red Baron Airport Diner, which closed in September 2021 after the former owner James Dhembe died.
The chamber is hosting a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 1 at the restaurant.
