Charter: Nearly All Customers Back Online

Charter Communications said this afternoon that it has restored cable, internet and telephone services to most of its customers after the Oct. 29 and 30 snowstorm.

More than half of the cable company's customers lost service. Approximately 98 percent had service as of this afternoon.

Charter said 190 crews from as far away as Virginia and Texas continue to work to replace damaged drop lines, the wires that connect homes to cable infrastructure on utility poles.

The cable provider has repaired more than 10,000 of the drop lines, with about 3,000 left to go. It is replacing around 1,000 lines per day.

Charter said it had to wait for utility companies to restore power in many cases before it could restore its own services.
