When Worcester residents Marianne and Pete Olynyk became Charter Communication ‘s one-millionth telephone customer, they got more than a rain of balloons and confetti.
The cable company, which now also offers phone and Internet service over its digital fiber optic network, gave the family a free high definition television, a home theater system, a digital phone system and a free year of Charter service.
Charter markets its phone service to cable customers as a way to save money compared with traditional phone companies.
