The Charlton couple behind females-only ride sharing service Chariot for Women hired a screening-and-security firm to provide background checks for potential drivers.
Middleborough-based Safer Places, Inc. will provide screening services for potential Chariot for Women drivers, including criminal background checks. As a result of the partnership, Safer Places President Dave Sawyer will serve on Chariot for Women’s safety committee.
The ride-sharing service was founded by Kelly and Michael Pelletz to provide a safe, comfortable ride sharing service for women. All Chariot for Women drivers and passengers are female. The service has not yet launched, according to its website.
Michael Pelletz, a former Uber driver himself, said Chariot for Women will go the extra mile in screening drivers because passenger safety is the company’s No. 1 concern.
