A Charlton company specializing in micro-injecting molding for the medical device industry is the first company of its kind in the world to achieve a medical device supply chain quality certification, after it successfully completed a pilot audit.
MTD Micro Molding announced last week it received MedAccred certification, an industry-managed, consensus-driven approach to ensuring critical manufacturing process quality throughout the medical device supply chain. MTD, which was on the audit checklist task group for plastics, was the first micromolding company to complete the pilot audit for the plastics checklist. Overmolding and injection molding jobs and the company’s quality system were all closely examined.
MedAccred’s audit criteria is based on industry standards and specific OEM requirements to ensure quality and compliance. Other companies on the task group included Stryker, Philips, Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic and Boston Scientific.
