Recently Jim Garvey, the local president of Flagship Bank, stepped down as part of the bank’s new parent company’s transition to a single president for its two Massachusetts operations. Garvey is from a line of strong leaders at Flagship — from founding president Don McGowan to Mike Toomey, who Garvey took the reins from in 2001. Garvey’s contributions to the community will be missed.
