Chandler, Moore: Worcester “Wayfaring” System Could Help Tourism

A transportation bill adopted by the State Senate authorizes $3 million in bond funding for a new wayfaring system in Worcester, according to an announcement from Senators Harriette Chandler, D-Worcester, and Michael Moore, D-Millbury.

The funding would pay for a system of vehicular, pedestrian and place-making signage to capture Worcester’s tourism offerings as well as its “unique identity or brand.”

City officials developed the system along with the Worcester Cultural Coalition, the Colleges of Worcester Consortium and local businesses.

The House and Senate versions of the bill must be reconciled before being sent to Gov. Deval Patrick, which could occur before the end of the month.
