Accounting and finance executives say in these lean times, they want recent college graduates applying for work to have industry experience for entry-level jobs.
According to the results of an Accountemps survey, 93 percent of accounting and finance industry CFOs said it was either very important or somewhat important that entry-level accountants gain work experience while in college.
Accountemps, a temporary employment agency focused on the accounting and finance industry, said employers want new hires that can contribute immediately, especially in a poor economy.
The agency said college students can gain work experience through internships, part-time work, temporary positions and volunteering their services to local community organizations.
