Bruce Platzman, the co-founder and CEO of Leominster-based furniture manufacturer AIS, will step down from his CEO role in June.
AIS President Nick Haritos will take over the CEO role on June 1, according to the company’s Tuesday press release.
Platzman founded AIS 32 years ago with Arthur Maxwell, who serves as chairman of the board. In July, Platzman turned over his duties as president to Haritos.
Haritos previously served as executive vice president of sales and distribution with AIS, and has a total of 30 years of experience in the commercial office market.
“Nick’s extraordinary leadership combined with his vast industry experience have equipped him for this critical position, and I am confident he’ll excel in every way. There is nothing but opportunity ahead for the company, and AIS is in good hands,” Platzman said in a written statement.
Platzman will pivot his focus toward philanthropy, as he is already a board director at the United Way of North Central Massachusetts and Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He is also involved with regional economic development, serving on the boards of MassEcon, the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce.
AIS is one of the largest office furniture manufacturers in the country with more than $200 million in annual sales and more than 800 employees.
