CEO Leaves People's United
People's United Financial Inc., a large Connecticut-based financial company with operations in Central Massachusetts, has announced that President and CEO Philip R. Sherringham has resigned "by mutual agreement" with the board of directors.
The company has appointed John P. (Jack) Barnes, senior executive vice president and chief administrative officer, as interim president and CEO.
People's United is the parent company of Worcester's Flagship Bank and recently aquired Lowell-based Butler Bank.
People's United said its board is searching for a permanent CEO. Executive search firm Russell Reynolds is assisting in the search.
