American Family Care, which has urgent care centers in Marlborough, Natick and Worcester, will operate mobile coronavirus testing vans at area schools and businesses to help expand testing during the pandemic.
The vans will be deployed starting Nov. 1 at locations across the state, with an anticipation of providing 100 to 150 tests per day, including for patients without symptoms. The vans will use the Abbott ID NOW molecular test, which gives results in as short as 15 minutes.
American Family Care, which has 21 locations in Massachusetts, also has coronavirus diagnostic testing for patients at its Worcester location at 117 Stafford St. The Worcester location is one of few statewide that will be running vans out of their locations.
Meanwhile, an existing testing site, at UMass Memorial Medical Center's University Campus, is moving. The hospital is moving the drive-through testing tent on Wednesday to a location in the rear of its office building at 306 Belmont St.
