Central Mass. Legislators Support AIM Agenda In 70% Of Votes

In its annual Legislative Scorecard, the Associated Industries of Massachusetts praised the state Legislature for "striking a reasonable balance during difficult times."

The scorecard itself is a tally of how often state senators and representatives vote in support of AIM's position on several key issues: The unemployment insurance rate freeze; corporate tax disclosures; mandated insurance coverage for autism; transportation reform; education reform; treble damages; retention of the pharmaceutical gift ban; economic development; health care cost containment and the rollback of the state's corporate tax rate.

Central Massachusetts' members of the state House of Representatives voted with AIM's positions an average of 70.6 percent of the time.

Among the most supportive of AIM's positions were state Rep. George Peterson, R-Grafton, and state Rep. Paul Frost, R-Auburn, who voted with AIM 88 percent of the time.

State Rep. Lew Evangelidis, R-Holden, voted with AIM 86 percent of the time.

The state Senate voted with AIM 71.8 percent of the time.

State Sens. Harriette Chandler, D-Worcester, Jennifer Flanagan, D-Leominster, Richard Moore, D-Uxbridge and Michael Moore, D-Millbury voted with AIM 78 percent of the time.

State Sen. Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, voted with AIM 67 percent of the time.
