Central Massachusetts is leading the state when it comes to adding new jobs, according to the latest figures released by the state.
Worcester was the only one of 12 statistical regions in the Bay State to increase seasonally unadjusted employment from July to August, the Bureau of Labor Statistics data found.
Worcester added 800 jobs, while the remaining regions combined to lose 8,100.
Worcester and Framingham were also among the four top-performing regions when it came to job creation on an annual basis.
Employment in Framingham grew 1.9 percent from 158,100 jobs in August 2012 to 161,100 jobs in August of this year. In Worcester, employment grew 1.6 percent from 241,200 to 245,100 jobs.
Northern Worcester County had lagged behind the rest of the region in job growth, with employment the Leominster-Fitchburg-Gardner area falling 0.8 percent over the past year from 47,600 to 47,200 jobs.  Â
