The investments come from Phase 2 of the Community Hospital Acceleration, Revitalization, and Transformation (CHART) Investment Program. The program aims to improve community-oriented care for patients with complex social and medical needs, and to increase access to high quality behavioral health services, according to HPC.

Among area hospitals receiving funds were Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital- Milton ($2 million), Emerson Hospital in Concord ($1.2 million), Harrington Memorial Hospital of Southbridge ($3.5 million), UMMHC- Marlborough Hospital ($1.2 million) and Milford Regional Medical Center ($1.3 million).

In addition to individual hospitals, the Phase 2 CHART investments were also made to regional collaborations such as the $2.9 million investment in a partnership between Heywood and Athol Hospitals and their other partners HealthAlliance Hospital and Community Healthlink that will integrate services for over 56,000 patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders, The HPC said.
