Central Massachusetts saw healthy job gains last month among the commonwealth’s overall gain of nearly 14,000 jobs in July, data from the Patrick administration revealed Tuesday.
All three statistical areas in the region measured by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics made seasonally adjusted gains from July 2013 to last month. The Worcester area gained 8,100 jobs and has an employed workforce of 255,700. That’s up 2,900 over June.
The Framingham area gained 3,400 jobs over the 12-month period, 600 from June, and has 163,900 employed.
Meanwhile, the North Central region, with an employed workforce of 48,900, gained 500 jobs over the previous year. There was no movement over June.
The figures were released Tuesday morning by the state’s Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD).
The seasonally adjusted statewide unemployment rate for July, released last week, was 5.6 percent, up 0.1 of a percentage point over the month but down 1.6 percent over the year, EOLWD said. The rate is the lowest since August 2008 and below the 6.2 percent national unemployment rate. The statewide seasonally adjusted jobs estimate showed a 13,800 job gain in July and an over-the-year gain of 67,300 jobs.
