A number of local businesspeople have been chosen as semifinalists for Technology Leadership Awards from the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council.
Peter Manca of Egenera Inc. in Marlborough is up for the CTO award and the company is up for the private sector company of the year.
Other local semifinalists include Mark Shirman of Glasshouse Technologies in Framingham for the CEO award, EMC Corp. of Hopkinton for private sector company of the year and UMass Online in Shrewsbury for public sector organization.
Rebecca Rhoads and Jeff Brown, both of whom work at Raytheon Co., which is based in Waltham, are also up for awards. Rhoads is in the running for the CIO award and Brown for the CXO (or "chief experience officer") award.
Nick Ventresca of Charles River Laboratories is also a contender for the CIO Award. Charles River Labs is based in Wilmington but also has a Worcester facility.
The winners will be announced and celebrated at a fall awards ceremony on Oct. 23 at the Sheraton Boston.
