State funding is providing 28 Central Massachusetts cities and towns with more than $4.7 million to cover clean energy projects.
The funding, announced by the Baker Administration Tuesday, cover a range of initiatives, from ventilation system upgrades and efficient lighting to electric vehicles and energy management systems.
The state gave $14.9 million in total to 91 cities and towns certified as so-called green communities, which means they've set a goal to cut municipal energy use by 20% in five years, and put in place zoning easily allowing renewable energy projects such as solar panel arrays, among other criteria.
These Central Massachusetts Communities were funded Tuesday, and a sample of projects:
Acton, $139,461: public building LED installations
Framingham, $222,018: Energy management system at fire stations, LED lighting at school and park facilities
Grafton, $165,923: LED street lights
Ashburnham, $20,054: electric vehicle charging station for town vehicle fleet
Ashby, $165,036: LED lighting at elementary school and highway building
Hardwick, $158,713: LED lighting at elementary school
Harvard, $151,009: LED lights at library, Bromfield High School
Ayer, $174,576: library energy management system, Town Hall LED lighting
Holliston, $216,245: exterior lighting at schools, weatherization at Town Hall
Southborough, $250,000: LED lighting at schools
Barre, $96,976: weatherization of Town Hall, library, senior center
Stow, $173,452: new equipment at Town Building and library
Berlin, $69,635: LED lighting at Memorial School
Littleton, $238,269: LED lighting and weatherization at schools
Bolton, $221,403: LED lighting at Emerson Elementary School and public safety building
Sutton, $42,875: new school water heaters
Maynard, $104,536: LED lighting at schools
Upton, $3,459: hybrid vehicle purchase
Medway, $216,550: boiler replacement at police station
Charlton, $211,235: LED lighting at Town Hall and library
Webster, $207,772: LED lighting at police station and Town Hall
Millis, $219,461: LED lighting at weatherization at middle/high school
Douglas, $220,989: HVAC improvements at police station, weatherization at municipal center

Winchendon, $189,673: lighting at police station, senior center, and public works garage
Fitchburg, $248,564: LED lighting at Fitchburg High School
Worcester, $225,225: LED lighting at senior center, transformer replacement at Forest Grove Middle School
